Richard Stabbert est artiste américain autodidacte né en 1959 qui crée de petites peintures intimes à partir des souvenirs de personnes passées et présentes qui ont marqué son psychisme. Son travail est très proche de celui des artistes naïfs. Les étés sur le littoral du New-Jersey et les voyages à Paris lui ont une mine d’inspiration pour ses peintures.
Travaillant en acrylique sur toile, les peintures sensuelles de Richard capturent une innocente sentimentalité. Il créé une certaine distorsion et de la fantaisie légère qui nous plonge dans un monde enchanté.
Il travaille dans une palette limitée où le bleu domine souvent. Il aplatit les espaces et transforme la réalité de l’âge adulte en joies ludiques. Ses peintures sont appréciées pour leurs détails simples, leur composition de couleurs audacieuses et leurs avant-plans et arrière-plans tout aussi forts.
